Montenegro Itinerary
Montenegro is a delightful country that can, and should be viewed as a destination in
itself rather than simply a convenient rendezvous place to pick up or drop off guests
when visiting Croatia.
Day 1: You will join your yacht in Kotor. If you haven’t arrived a couple of days early to explore this youthful city, you might want to have your yacht remain at the dock so you can relax on board before going exploring. Often described as a “little Dubrovnik”, Kotor is perfect for strolling. There are many examples of well preserved architecture from the Middle Ages in the historic center. The village itself was built up against a steep cliff and survived countless assaults from invaders with its imposing town wall. At night the streets become alive with restaurants, cafes and discos.

Day 2: If you went out dancing last evening, you will want to start you morning with a leisurely breakfast watching the world go by as your captain moves the yacht down the coast to Budva. This magical town, with its miles of sandy white beaches, vast cultural heritage, beautiful architecture and exciting nightlife is considered the capital of Montenegrin tourism. It holds the distinction of being the smallest town to host a Rolling Stones concert…if you weren’t there on July 9, 2007, you missed it. Sorry. But it is still talked about!
A nice day anchorage when visiting Budva is Sveti Stefan. Looking for all the world like a grounded stone boat “anchored” off Budva, this island was a former fishing village, with historical reference to it dating back to 1442. Today is enjoys the distinction of being one of the most exclusive resorts in the world, a playground for the rich and famous. One you can visit on your yacht! |
Day 3: Today we head on down the coast to Bar. Bar is the most important seaport of Montenegro and is becoming an increasingly important tourist destination. Archeological excavations from older Neolithic periods confirm there were people in Bar even in prehistory. Excavations and ruins not withstanding, Bar itself was built almost entirely after World War II and is home to wide boulevards surrounded by modern buildings. The beaches of Bar are mainly cobbled, so you will want one of the crew to take you by tender around to one of the long sandy beaches that lie off nearby Sutomore…a perfect time for a beach picnic, don’t you think?
Day 4: Time to lounge on the flybridge enjoying your breakfast as you journey back north, heading on up to Croatia. It’s been a lovely way to leisurely start your Adriatic holiday, hasn’t it?
