Day
1:
Board Viaggio in Norfolk, Virginia.
After lunch onboard Viaggio, take a tour of the Naval Museum
or explore the Civil War and Cannon Ball Trails.
Day 2:
After breakfast, we head up the Chesapeake Bay for Annapolis,
Maryland. Annapolis has a small town feel which makes it
a perfect place for shopping, dining, or exploring historical
architecture.
Day 3:
We enter the C & D Canal, headed for , New Jersey, home
of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. After lunch onboard Viaggio,
take a leisurely stroll down the charming streets, admiring
the Victorian style homes; or climb the newly restored Cape
May Light House.
Day 4:
Viaggio heads along the Jersey Shore and into New York Harbor.
As we approach the Statue of Liberty, we slow down for a
photo opportunity, then cruise on to Chelsea Piers to dock.
Spend Day 5 exploring the delights of the city, or we can
leisurely circle Manhatten for a look at the island that
few ever see.
Day 5:
Leaving New York City behind, we head up the East River
into the Long Island Sound, bound for Sag Harbor, New York.
Sag Harbor is one of the oldest whaling towns with loads
of history. Stroll through the rustic, salty town after
you enjoy a quiet lunch in one of the local restaurants.
Day 6:
One last breakfast onboard Viaggio, then it’s off
to the airport, vowing to return soon!
Smoky Fish Chowder
pound salt pork,
rinsed and diced
1 large yellow onion, sliced
4 medium potatoes, peeled
and diced into pieces
4 cups milk
1 pound of cod, haddock or any other smoked fish that you
like!
Brown the pork in a Dutch oven. Add
onion and sauté until transparent. Add potatoes and
water to cover. Bring to a boil and reduce to simmer. When
potatoes are almost tender, add milk and fish. Simmer for
10 minutes. Adjust seasoning to taste. Serve with crusty
bread.
