Day
1: You will be met at the Sitka
airport to be transferred to the yacht. You might want
to visit the Alaska Raptor Rehabilitation Center for
an up-close encounter with bald eagles and other birds
of prey. Upon departure from Sitka, we will cross Sitka
Sound to the St. Lazaria National Refuge, an excellent
habitat for puffins. Continuing our cruise through Peril
Strait, keep an eye out for bears, as this bear country.
We will anchor in a remote cove, perfect for kayaking
and exploring!
Day 2:
After a morning of kayaking, wildlife sightings from
the Zodiac or just relaxing, we leave for Chatham Strait,
which is prime whale country. We will also pass Kasnyku
Falls, site of one of the oldest human habitations in
North America, and anchor in one of the many pristine
coves for the night.
Day 3:
The remote South Baranof Island is a seldom-visited
part of Southeast Alaska. Natural hot springs, abundant
wildlife, fantastic kayaking and numerous waterfalls
highlight this memorable place.
Day 4: Tonight
we will anchor in Pious Bay on Admiralty Island. Known
as the fabled “Fortress of the Bears,” this
island is home to the highest concentration of brown
bears and bald eagles in the world.
Day 5:
We continue on to Tenakee Springs, a small, remote village
accessible only by boat or plane, anchoring in one of
the many bays that make up Tenakee Inlet.
Day 6:
We head west to Fredrick Sound, the heart of “Whale
Country.” Humpbacks, Orcas, and the Dall porpoise
are all residents of this special spot. In the midst
of Fredrick Sound lie the Brothers Islands, home to
a massive colony of Steller sea lions. Our evening anchorage
is in remote Gambier Bay on Admiralty Island.
Day 7:
Today we will visit Tracy Arm Fjord. The sinuous 22-mile
fjord rivals anything Norway has to offer, with the
twin Sawyer Glaciers laying at is end. Keep an eye out
for the black bears that forage here on the rocky intertidal
area. Our even anchorage will be Juneau, capital of
Alaska. This interesting frontier town is filled with
art galleries and nightlife.
Day 8: You
will breakfast on board, then depart for the airport,
vowing to return to this paradise… soon!
